This audit process is concerned with assessing if the internal documented Safety Management System Manual and associated procedures meet applicable safety regulatory requirements and also assessing if the implemented SMS by NATA meets the documented SMS and is successful in achieving the safety objectives of the SMS and of applicable safety regulatory requirements at national and international level. Audit team was led by Head of National Supervisory Authority Mr. Fisnik Tabaku. This audit team was comprised by 2 certificated auditors from NSA Albania, Mr. Alfred Haxhiaj and Mr. Ilir Bano, 2 certificated auditors from CAA Kosovo, Mr. Arianit Islami and Mr. Muhamet Luta and 2 other foreign audit experts as experienced support for audit team, Mr. Nigel Bauer from Bauer& Associates, UK and Mrs. Geraldine Flynn, from EUROCONTROL.
The runway safety is a vital component of the safety of general aviation taking into account the predicted growth of air traffic on Tirana International Airport, as well. The objective of the meeting was to discuss all safety issues concerning the safety of the runway on aerodrome of Tirana International Airport "Mother Teresa". LRSG discussed and analyzed all important and crucial problems and issues revealed during last six months in relation to presence of foreign objects and metallic debris straying onto the runway and other technical deficiencies that possibly can be dangerous for the safety of the runway. TIA has took all appropriate measures to improve physical conditions of the runway, maintain and monitor 8 times per day the runway, manoeuvring area and all airfield of airport. Are stopped up or filled up over 90% of some minor cracks on runway surface, which definitively will end up on the end of September 2009. A good news provided also by TIA is extension of apron area. After sound discussions by all participants on important problems and issues identified during last six months, the meeting identify appropriate preventative and remedial actions aiming to increase safety levels on runway and to prevent repeatedly of those safety problems in the future. We invite all other foreign air operators that operate at "Mother Teresa" Airport to join our mission and to report to us all safety occurrences concerning runway safety and security on runway.
